Photography has been my passion since I attended high school. Upon graduation, I wanted to enroll in a photography school in New York. I was inspired by professional photographer, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe (Arthur Ashe’s wife). My parents, however, said no. They suggested that I pursue a “real” education and “normal” career.
After many years of being the “official, unofficial volunteer photographer” for family, friends and corporate events, I decided to follow my passion. In December 2007, I closed my office equipment business of 20 years and set off to do what I really wanted to do.
I love capturing people from afar in their natural “unposed” candid state which I call my candid portraiture. I enjoy documenting all types of events. Being in the background, watching and waiting for the perfect, natural and telling expression and then nailing it is exhilarating! I strive to capture the moment-in-time that allows the emotion to live on with each viewer’s interpretation for decades to come. I am always on the quest to develop my eye and find that “award winning shot”!
As a full-time professional freelance photographer, I have the wonderful opportunity to work with all types of people and organizations to create memories or stir actions. It’s more than making a living for me; it’s putting my passion to work for the joy and success of myself and others.
